Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose a nurse to treat head lice?

Nurses are healthcare professionals with years of training and practice. Nurses are required to practice within their range of skills, and by the guidelines set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Although head lice treatment can be done by anyone, other removal companies are not able to take in to account patients with other medical or skin conditions, clients with high medical needs, small children or infants. They are also not able to make referrals to other health care providers if additional consultation or investigation is required.

We strongly recommend consulting with us if you or your child has additional medical needs, skin conditions, a sensitive head/scalp, or has been struggling with head lice treatments in the past.

Do you use chemical shampoos to treat head lice?

Not very often-- Our preferred method of lice removal is through wet combing, which only uses conditioner and a lice comb. We do provide treatment with medicated shampoos when it is medically necessary, or if our client prefers that method.

Myself or my child have had head lice for months
and nothing seems to be working. Can you help us?

YES! Please get in touch with us and let us know how we can help you! We can consult with you, and then provide a detailed care plan customized to your unique needs to make sure that you're on track to get rid of head lice FOR GOOD!

Are your services covered by OHIP?

No, our services are not covered by OHIP. Our consultation and treatment service fees may be covered by your extended benefits provider under "Home Care Nursing" or a "home visit". Please contact your insurance provider for more information. We do not direct bill insurance companies at this time.

Do you go to schools or daycares to do
head checks or class checks?

YES! We offer consultation services for daycares and schools. We bring everything that we need to check heads, as well as parental consent forms that are filled out ahead of our visit.

We also offer resources that we can create for your school or daycare's unique needs, and comprehensive "Head Check Kits" that can be sent home with kids when a lice case is found in their classroom.
